What is recorded here

No visible fort remains at Ballynamucky, though a ringfort once stood there. The land has taken back what people built, erasing the boundary between made and natural. What is absent is not nothing; it is the shape of forgetting. To stand beside the place is to touch the moment human making ended and the world resumed its older patience.

In pasture, atop low hill. Monument, depicted as roughly circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, is now largely covered by dense overgrowth. Enclosing element partially accessible E->S showing it to consist of earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.85m), with external fosse (Wth 1.2m; D 0.3m) SE->S. Bank has remains of stone revetment on both faces at ESE. At NNE short arc of earth-and-stone bank (H 0.65m), c. 2m outside bank, probably remains of counterscarp/outer bank.
