Fairy fort in Ballynamona, County Cavan, is a raised circular area about 25 metres across, enclosed by two earthen banks with a ditch between them. Its outer bank has merged into a field boundary on the east, south and southwest, and its entrance may have faced northeast or southwest. The shape suggests a lived-in place where people moved through one gap, marked the edge of a household or claim, and left the rest to earth and time.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 25m) enclosed by two earthen banks with intermediate fosse. From E-S-SSW outer bank has been incorporated into the field boundary and fosse is absent. Original entrance may have been either at NE or SW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
