Fairy forts are human places misnamed because people stopped remembering their own history. This one in Ballymunterhiggin is a damaged earthen ring about thirty metres across, set on marshy pasture above the River Bradoge valley. Its bank is broken, its ditch is silted, and grass has taken back the centre. What is left is not mystical in the way tourists want; it is a human boundary forgotten until it became a story about fairies.

Internal diam. 30m. A subcircular area enclosed by a much-damaged earthen bank and a silted-up fosse. The interior is very overgrown. It is situated on marshy pasture on a low plateau overlooking the valley of the River Bradoge. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
