Fairy fort in Ballymonteen, County Cork: a 40m earthen ringfort on an east-facing slope, marked on Bateman’s 1716-1717 map. Its curving fence and steep scarp still shape the pasture, though overgrowth hides the northern edge. People may have lived there before the field fence took its place, but the earth keeps that much to itself.

A platform (diam. c. 40m) defined by a curving field fence NNW-NNE and by a steep scarp (H 1.1m) NNE-WSW. The N portion of the possible rath is overgrown and consequently it was not possible to take accurate measurements in this area.
