Fairy fort in Ballintogher, County Meath: a 31-metre grass ring on a ridge crest, marked by a worn earthen bank, outer ditch and a shallow southeast causeway. It is the kind of place where people may have lived, herded, hidden or performed rites before memory thinned. The earth still holds the shape of choice: a boundary drawn, an entrance left open, and a small world made visible on the horizon.

Situated on the crest of a small WNW-ESE ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 31m E-W; 29m N-S) that slopes down to the W. It is defined by the slight remains of an earthen bank NNW-ESE that is largely reduced to a scarp (Wth 2.5-3.5m; H 1.5-1.7m) and an outer fosse (Wth of top 5m; ext. D 1.7m) W-NW and NE-SE. The original entrance is represented by a causeway (Wth of top 1.5m; H 0.3m) at SE. The rath has become overgrown since 1969 (OSAP).
