Magic and memory are entangled in this place. An univallate rath in Baile An Bhogaigh measures about 28m across, its oval form leaning NE-SW on a south-facing slope. Only the northern half survives clearly, the earthen bank rising 2m above a fosse 1.7m deep and 2.5m wide. That much is known. The missing southern half belongs to transformation, not forgetfulness.

Internal diam. c. 28m. This univallate rath is located on a S facing slope about 125m S of KE044-096----. It is marked on the OS maps as a roughly oval enclosure, long axis aligned NE-SW, but the earthen enclosing bank and fosse are preserved only along the N half of the enclosure where they form part of a field boundary. The bank is 2m high. The fosse is 1.7m deep and 2.5m wide. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter.
