What is recorded here

No visible breach or certain gate, only a smooth unbroken ring of earth and stone at the ridge top. Inside the fort stands a broken stone circle, not a building but a marker place. The field boundary has cut through part of the ancient ring, yet the circle remains whole within it.

At the highest point of a NW-SE ridge in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 32.1m) enclosed by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 4.1m; H 0.8m max.) with an external fosse (Wth 3.3m; D 0.5m). From WNW-N-ENE the outer face of the bank and the fosse have been modified and incorporated into a field boundary, which also forms the division between the two townlands. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded traces of a possible stone revetment on the inner face of the bank at NW and suggested that the original entrance may have been at NE. These features were not identified but the rath is very overgrown with scrub rendering detailed inspection very difficult. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
