What is recorded here

Archaeological works, undertaken in 2004 in advance of the construction of the N8 Mitchelstown relief road, revealed three pits, including one burnt pit with associated stake-holes (CO019-173001-) and an isolated stake-hole. One pit (4.3m x 3.64m; D 2.05m) lay c. 1.5 m to the SW of the burnt pit and had been recut. The other pit (0.64m x 0.34m; D 0.12m) was irregular in plan and lay a further c. 4m to the NW. An isolated stake-hole (0.31m x 0.39m; D 0.31m) lay c. 3m S of the latter pit. (Sutton 2006e; 2007d, 69-70) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
