Bypassed by the new road and never recovered, that medieval ditch still drops its one buried person into darkness. The builders measured it, photographed it, and poured concrete beside it instead of digging deeper. What they refused to finish, the earth keeps alive. Forgetting is not the same as losing; it is only the shape of the hole redrawn around human impatience.

Partially excavated in advance of construction of the N9/N10 Kilcullen-Waterford Road (Excavation Licence number E2588). A ditch (Wth 1.8m; D 0.31m) of which c. 14m was uncovered and ran beyond the extent of the road corridor to the S. A grave cut containing a single inhumation (CW012-130----) dating to the medieval period was discovered within it.
