Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1840, having flat-roofed timber-glazed porch to front (south) and three-bay wing to rear (north) with rendered stepped access to first floor, flanked by rendered walls with tooled limestone copings. Hipped slate roof with rendered overhanging eaves, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls. Square- and camber-headed window openings with rendered sills and moulded render surrounds, having six-over-six and four-over-four pane timber sliding sash windows in single and bipartite arrangements with some timber casement replacements. Round-headed door opening having panelled timber pilasters surmounted by moulded archivolt. Glazed timber panelled door flanked by glazed side panels and surmounted by fanlight. Square-headed door opening to wing having double-leaf timber panelled doors. Located within own grounds with rendered enclosing walls, having chamfered entrance with castellated walls and square-profile gate piers with pointed concrete caps. Round-headed pedestrian gate openings with cast-iron gates and double-leaf cast-iron vehicular gates. Single-storey gate lodge to west of entrance.
Located in landscaped grounds, this handsome house boasts a finely balanced symmetrical façade with a central placed doorcase forming the decorative focus. It has maintained its historic character through the retention of traditional features including numerous sash windows, slate roofs and cast-iron rainwater goods. The fine entrance sweep and diminutive gate lodge add to its setting and context.
