Enclosure in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing terrace of Mangerton Mountain and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE085-003006-). A circular area (11.3m N-S; 11m E-W) defined by the remains of a drystone wall (T 0.9m; H 0.5m) constructed of an inner and outer row of upright slabs with infill NW-SE and by a collapse of stones SSE-SW. There is an entrance (Wth 1.6m) at SE which is defined by two upright stones (H 0.4m) on the N and (H 0.5m) on the S side. Internal and external upright stones are evident intermittently SW-NW. The remains of a N-S relict wall from the network of field walls crosses the W portion of the interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
