Enclosure in Mangerton

In rough boggy pasture, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbaun River. An oval area (90m E-W; 42m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m) which protrudes above the surface of the bog. The interior slopes down to the SW. Some loose stones and outcropping rock were noted within the interior. Another enclosure (KE084-006003-) and a hut site (KE084-006006-) abut the external E and WSW arcs of this enclosure, respectively. Another hut site (KE084-006005-) is c. 12m to the E. A relict field boundary (KE084-006002-) extends to the NW from the NE arc of this enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
