What is recorded here

On a S-facing slope in improved pasture. Although not recorded on the 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map, the site is shown on the latest ed. (1939) as a raised, U-shaped area (est. max. dims. L c. 30m NE-SW; Wth c. 25m) NE-S-NNW, ‘open’ towards the NE and ‘Rathwalkin’ (KD022-021----) c. 300m to the NE, girdled by a fosse, the W-edge of which is shown extending NE past the W-edge of the raised area (est. traceable L c. 60m). There was no visible surface trace in 1986 (SMR file). Visible as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP BGN 16). Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 06 December 2011
