What is recorded here

In an area now being worked by Bord Na Mona. Not easily accessible since laneway into vicinity of site has been destroyed. Doubtful if site was of archaeological interest and is now almost certainly destroyed. Potential enclosure identified from aerial photographs taken in 1973 (GSI N 457/8). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.
