In 1424, King Henry the 6th rewarded William Fitz John Bermingham for his services to the crown during the wars.… by granting him four messuages (or farmsteads) and 128 acres of land 'in Reynoldstown, alias Poyne's Castell, near the castle of Carbury (KD008-001002-), in the County Kildare' (Fitzgerald 1906-8, 65). William Fitz John Bermingham was granted land in Reynoldstown, including what may be referred to as Poyne's Caste, by King Henry VI in 1424 for his service during the wars. The site is remembered as part of the medieval land rewards system and the Bermingham family's historical role in the region.
