Enclosure in Cutteen South

Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) on the 1840 and 1927 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated at the E foothills of the Monavullagh Mountains, at the junction with a gentler NE-facing slope. Slightly dished, grass-covered circular area (diam. 20m) defined by a scarp (Wth 5m; H 0.7m at W (upslope): Wth 8m; H 1.5m at E), with slight traces of a fosse (Wth 8.5m; max. int. D 0.7m) SSE-NNW. There is no visible entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
