Empire of Peace

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Empire of Peace as Barque (period Unassigned)-(1881). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Empire of Peace* was a three-masted barque built in 1881, likely of Scottish origin. It was lost in 1917 during World War I when it struck a mine off the coast of Scotland, resulting in the deaths of all 28 crew members; the wreck remains a significant wartime maritime casualty and diving site.
