Embanked enclosure — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Situated at the bottom of the steep SW-facing slope of Carrickmastia Hill, at the junction with a gentler slope. This is a D-shaped area with a straight E side (dims. 38m E-W; 32m N-S) that is planted with coniferous trees and defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-7m; int. H 0.4-1m; ext. H 1.6-2.2m) with an external flat bottomed fosse (Wth of top 7-8m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 1- 1.5m). There is a counterscarp bank (Wth 3m; ext. H 0.3m) SE-NW, and the fosse on the straight E side has been partly filled in on the outside. There is an entrance (Wth 2m) and widely spread causeway at NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
