Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

On a low rise in an undulating landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 45m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank (Wth 2.9m at N to 4.4m at S; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 0.2m at W to 0.8m at N) SSE-W-NE which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.5m) elsewhere, separated by a fosse (Wth of top 3.2m; Wth of base 2.5m) from an outer bank (Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.8m) at N. The fosse is replaced by a berm (Wth 2m at S to 4.7m at W) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m) SSE-WNW. There is no visible entrance, but a relict NE-SW field bank overlies the interior. A NE-SW field wall truncated the fosse at NW, while a NW-SE field wall truncates the fosse at NE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
