Castle, unclassified

What is recorded here

Castle and mill at Emlagh appeared in the 1650s Book of Survey and Distribution, yet no stones or marks have been found to show where they stood. The facts withholds the shape of the build, the identity of the owner, and the reason the mill was built. What is known is that the place existed, was large enough to survey, and disappeared from human memory before modern mapping began.
A castle and mill (RO026-065002-) at Emlagh are listed in the Book of Survey and Distribution from the 1650s (Simington 1949, 14). The area was visited, but the location of the castle cannot be identified. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
