What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Lisgillalea, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a circular embanked enclosure with an external diameter of about 35 metres only on the 1837 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map. The feature sits on a gentle southwest-facing slope and remains visible as a cropmark of a bank on vertical aerial photographs, although it is no longer distinguishable at ground level in the pasture. Another rath lies roughly 70 metres to the north.
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on a gentle SW-facing slope, and visible as a cropmark (diam. c. 30m) of a bank feature on vertical aerial photographs (GSIAP: M217-6). It is also visible on Bing images (c. 2013) but it is not visible at ground level in pasture. The rath (RO044-007----) is c. 70m to the N. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
