What is recorded here

On a gentle W-facing slope in a low-lying landscape. Subcircular overgrown area (dims 36.5m NE-SW; 30.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 6-7.8m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 1-1.2m) which is reduced to a scarp at NE and an external fosse (Wth of top 5.5-8m; Wth of base 1.7-2.5m; D 0.3-0.5m). A berm (Wth c. 2m) separates the fosse from an outer bank (Wth c. 2m; H 0.2-0.5m) with its own outer fosse (Wth of top 3-6m; Wth of base 1m; D 0.1-0.2m). There is a third outer bank (Wth 2m; H 0.1-0.2m) with its own outer fosse (Wth of top 3-6m; Wth of base 1.7m; D 0.15m) SE-SW which merges with the middle bank at SW (max. ext. diam. 70m NE-SW). The middle and outer banks and fosses are truncated by a NE-SW bank at E. There is no identifiable original entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
