Castle Kelly rises in County Galway as a tower house, though the name Aghrane still competes with Castlekelly in local memory. The clash of identities suggests the place belonged to more than one family, claim or story before anyone wrote it down. Stone towers do not erase themselves; they absorb the arguments of the people who named them.
