What is recorded here
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 80m N-S; c. 55m E-W) on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a D-shaped feature (ext. dims c. 75m N-S; c. 65m E-W) on the 1911 edition, and backing onto a NNE-SSW lane at E on both. It is situated on a gentle SW-facing slope. It was described as a large subcircular area (dims 54.5m N-S; 45m E-W) defined by an earthen bank and outer fosse S-W and a stone wall elsewhere, with an entrance at E (Gannon 1972). It is not visible now at ground level in reclaimed pasture. Archaeological testing (06E0877) across the interior failed to produce any evidence of the enclosure (Molloy 2009).
