Earthwork in Oolahills East

On a slight N-facing slope, in pasture, with good views from NW-N-NE and 155m SE of a townland boundary with Moanroe. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a suboval-shaped earthwork. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 1999 and described as a raised subcircular-shaped area (16m E-W; approx. 10m N-S) defined by a scarp (Wth 2.3m; H 0.3m) from SW-W-N-E which is levelled from E-S-SW. The interior is level, dry and clear of overgrowth and has been raised on the N side to compensate for hillslope. A field boundary runs NW-SE approx. 2m to SW of monument and a farm track flanks the monument to E and S. Monument is visible as a faint subcircular-shaped cropmark on OSi orthophotos taken 2005-2012 and on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-2013, although is not visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018.
