What is recorded here

No visible trace remains in the rough pasture, yet a D-shaped shadow appeared in crop growth during the 1986 Bruff aerial survey. It lies immediately south of a post-1700 field boundary on the Newtown and Rathanny edge, with another earthwork and a barrow one hundred metres to the northwest. The land may have swallowed the marker, but the crops still remember its shape when sunlight and moisture align.

In rough partially reclaimed pasture, on the townland boundary between Newtown and Rathanny. An earthwork (LI040-023----) and barrow (LI040-298----) lie 100m to the NW. Not marked on OSi historic maps. Identified by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 125; AP 5/2122) as a D-shaped cropmark immediately S of a post-1700 field boundary running roughly E-W. No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 or on Google Earth orthoimages.
