Present St. Columba's C of I parish church is presumed to have replaced earlier medieval parish church (CW008-045006-). A large rectangular granite cross base (dims 0.7m x 0.8m) with rectangular socket stands in S quadrant of graveyard (CW008-045014-). Described in the Urban Survey of County Carlow (Bradley 1990, 69) as a large rectangular granite base (dims. visible H 0.12m; 0.74m x 0.8m) set in the ground to the right of the entrance path. It has a rectangular mortice (D 0.16m; 0.23m x 0.35m) and one corner is damaged. It is thought that this base was brought here from Templeowen'. Described in 1892-4 as following, 'Near the entrance gate of the churchyard is a granite base of an ancient cross about 2 feet 6 inches (0.76m) square, the hole being 15 inches (0.38m) by 9 (0.23m), and 10 inches (0.25m) deep' (Anon. 1892-4, 447).
