Moved from a rath in Caragagh (CV033-010001-) to present location in the 1940s (1948, 98). Designated 'Remarkable Stone' on OS Fair Plan and 'Cargagh Cross' on subsequent OS ed. Plain 16th or 17th-century wayside cross comprising pyramidal base and short rectangular shaft with chamfered corners and a broken collar piece. Shaft inscribed on S face with now illegible dedication in English. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). A plain 16th- or 17th-century wayside cross, moved from a rath in Caragagh to its present location in the 1940s; its original builder is unknown, and it has no recorded dedication or wider significance.
