Cnocannagun

In a level area of recently reclaimed pastureland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932) as an oval enclosure (c. 35m by c. 25m) with a small hollow at its SE end. What is visible is a subcircular grassy earthen platform (E-W 19.5m, N-S 16.5m) up to 2m in height. Slight traces of a bank are visible on the summit from E to ESE. The hollow shown on OS 6-inch map appears to have been a shallow quarry pit. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
