Standing stone in AghadeStanding stone · 175 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Standing stone in Aghade is officially 'no longer visible,' which means it’s either hiding or it finally got the guts to quit its job. It would probably post a selfie with the caption: 'Still here, you losers.' Perfect spot to practise your best tour-guide voice before you disappear.

Enclosure in AghadeEnclosure · 366 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Enclosure in Aghade has no visible surface traces, which means you’re looking at a map and making stuff up. It’s possibly a ringfort, or maybe just a very ambitious circle of dirt. Ideal stop for a big stretch and a bigger yawn.

All Saints' Church (Aghade)Church/chapel · 1305 yd

Explorer Tom All Saints' Church in Aghade has two graveyards, which means twice as many things to worry about. It would bring a terrible pun to a party because that’s its brand. Bring your worst joke, the place has heard worse from people who didn't know better and left quickly.

Sandbrook HouseHouse · 1739 yd

Explorer Tom Sandbrook House in Ballygarret is a Palladian dream with quadrant walls and a proper frontage. The local sheep probably judge its style more than you do. Stand still and listen, the wind tells it better than me.

Scots Pine2.5 mi

Explorer Tom Scots Pine in County Carlow is holding a secret that would make sense if I had three more pints. It might be about a missing shoe or a bad date. Go on, count the windows and get it wrong like I did.

Walled GardenGarden · 2.7 miComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Walled Garden in County Carlow is playing hide-and-seek with me. A gardener once claimed his tomatoes could tell him the truth about his love life, which was very inconvenient.

Church (in ruins), GraveyardChurch · 4.3 mi

Explorer Tom Church, Graveyard in Templepeter is a simple rectangular structure made of large granite boulders that aren’t cored, so they’re just hanging out. It’s aligned East-West, which means it’s facing the right way for no reason. Toast it with a cup of tea and move on to the next.

Sycamore4.7 mi

Explorer Tom Sycamore has caught my eye in County Wicklow. I bet a sycamore with a name like that could keep me talking all afternoon; I'm already inventing a daft little scene for it, and I'll stop before it turns into history.
