Church in Appletown

On W side of road. Aglish graveyard ( LI045-030002-), with recent extension to S enclosed by a concrete-block wall. Interior laid out with level plots and concrete paths. Earliest headstones noted date to 1590s but vast majority are 20th century. It is unclear whether this ever contained a church (Westropp 1904-5, 415). Graveyard marked in the wrong location on the revised ed. OS 6-inch map. Westropp recorded the following details about Aglish; 'Possibly Aglissimona, 1410 and 1615; Aglassnagroman, in Tawnagh, 1586 (Peyton, p. 52); Aglishemonagh, 1633.
