Childrens Burial Gd.

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Gd. is a children's burial ground within an early ecclesiastical enclosure in County Galway, Ireland. Its rectangular platform measures about 12m by 5.4m, with set stones marking east-west graves and a stony mound at the north end likely from field clearance. The small size and separate location suggest these were children, laid to rest beside a sacred place where adults and young lives both belonged.
Within an early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA107-69001-). This children's burial ground is defined by a poorly preserved rectangular platform (L 12m; Wth 5.4m) upon which numerous set stones indicate graves aligned E-W. A grass-covered stony mound at its N end is probably the result of field clearance. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 30 August 2019
