Shanasta is a univallate ringfort in County Kerry where local tradition claims children were buried. A circular bank of earth and stone still marks the old abode, preserving a boundary drawn around loss rather than life. The distinction between residence and grave collapses when innocence departs, leaving behind a shape that invites wonder more than explanation.

Shanasta/Seaneasta (old abode; KE005-091----) is a univallate ringfort consisting of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank of earth and stone and an external fosse. According to local tradition, this ringfort was used as a children's burial ground (KE005-091001-) (John O'Donovan OSNB). The above description is derived from C.
