Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

In levelled ringfort (CO041-10601-). According to OS Field Books, Lisheenacarriga, little fort of the rock, has a cave which is said to contain three large apartments (Berry 1905, 33). Bowman (1934, 569) noted that 'a Man-made underground passage was here, but is now closed'. Area of fort and Man-made underground passage now destroyed by quarrying.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
