Kilshruley Castle stood beside the Camlin River as a tower house before human ambition and time erasing its exact position. Captain Andrew Adaire repaired it in 1666 after receiving land through settlement acts, marking a moment when military authority and local ownership collided. That stone still leans inside a gateway pier near where Kilshruley Manor disappeared, preserving a name and date while withholding the shape of the room where Adaire may have stood.

Depicted as a tower house-type structure on an early 17th-century map of Granard barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.i.47) close to the N bank of the Camlin River. Its precise location has not been identified. An inscribed stone (LF010-135001-), built into a gateway pier on the N side of the 19th-century courtyard associated with the now-levelled ‘Kilshruley Manor’, records that the castle was repaired by Captain Andrew Adaire in 1666.
