What is recorded here
Dunbyrne castle vanished before modern mapping began, leaving only a vague shadow near a large enclosure. It defied later surveyors and escaped every official record, forcing imagination to fill the gap.
Recorded on the Down Survey (1655-6), but not recorded on any ed. of the OS 6-inch maps. The exact location of this monument is unknown. It appears to have stood in the vicinity of a large enclosure in Dunbyrne townland (KD018-013----).
