What is recorded here
No visible walls remain, only a hidden castle on rising ground north of two mounds in Cloonbullig. It vanished from ordinary sight after people still remembered it, leaving behind a nearby enclosure and burial marked on the land. The castle may still stand beneath grass, waiting for someone to stop looking for a ruin and begin listening for the shape of the place.
This castle was recorded by Knox (1911, 211) as follows: ‘On rising ground, 100m to north [of two mounds (MA103-046001-; MA103-046002-)], part of a small castle stood within living memory.’ Nearby is an enclosure (MA048001-), within which a burial (MA0103-048002-) was found. The exact location of the castle remains unknown.
