Doran's cottage still stands in Bawnoge, but the castle that gave it a name has vanished under the plough. Men knocked the adjacent fields into one and dragged out carts of loose stone, yet no wall, ditch or gate remains to mark the exact spot. The earth swallowed the castle while the village kept its memory, proving that loss and ownership are the same act.

According to Healy (1985, 2 SMR file), there were two castles in Tipperkevin, no remains of which now survive. According to local information, large amounts of stone were found during ploughing neighbouring fields in the adjoining townlands of Tipperkevin and Bawnoges. In 1986 the ASI recorded that 'according to the caretaker of Tipperkevin churchyard (KD024-020001-), this cottage was known as Doran's of the castle. The adjacent fields were knocked into one, and according to Mr. Nolan, there was a lot of stone there. There are no traces of any castle there now, the area had recently been tilled at time of inspection' (ASI report 22/05/1986).
