Carrowncashlane stands as a ruined tower house on a south-facing slope in County Waterford, reduced to ground-floor level but still showing wall-cupboards and a doorway. Darby O'Brien of Kilcomeragh owned the nearby Ballyknock land in 1641, suggesting this compact stone box served his household rather than a distant lord. The missing upper chambers may have held a kitchen, a bedroom and a guard post, turning a small rectangle into a complete home for people who watched the valley below.

Located on a S-facing slope. In the Civil Survey of 1654-6 Carrowncashlane was part of Ballyknock which was owned in 1641 by Darby O'Brien of Kilcomeragh (WA015-043----), but a castle at Ballyknock is not listed (Simington 1942, 66). This is a rectangular structure (ext. dims. 7.6m E-W; 6.95m N-S; max. H 3m) reduced to the ground-floor level with evidence of a window and wall-cupboards in the S wall (T 1.65m), and a doorway in the W wall (T 1.5m).
