Detached multiple-bay single-storey range of brick stable buildings, built c. 1880. L-plan, lower wing to east, lean-to to north end of east elevation of north wing. Hipped and pitched slate roofs, clay ridge and hip tiles, cast-iron gutters on brick corbel course, cast-iron hopper heads and downpipes. Red brick Flemish bond walling, cast-iron braces to east wing, cross loops to north wing. Square-headed window openings to east wing, brick jambs, brick arches, tooled stone sills, painted timber casement windows with pivoting upper lights; square-headed window opening to north of northern carriage arch in north wing, bullnose brick sill, cast-iron diamond-pane fixed light; two lunettes to north wing above ground floor level, brick arch, tooled limestone sills, painted timber tripartite fixed light. Round-headed door opening to east wing, tooled limestone block-and-start surround, voussoirs and keystone, painted timber vertically-sheeted double doors, limestone threshold; square-headed door opening to north wing, tooled limestone block-and-start surround, painted timber doors, limestone threshold. Segmental-headed carriage arches, tooled limestone block-and-start surrounds, voussoirs and keystone. Interior divided into stalls with cobbled flooring in parts both internally and externally. Buildings now sited within own grounds to west of Castle Bellingham.
Formerly part of the Castle Bellingham estate, these stables have been little altered since their original construction. The well-executed brickwork contrasts pleasingly with the limestone dressings adopted at openings. Interiors with timber stalls and cobbled floors are also of interest.
