Castle Bagshaw

Castle Bagshaw, built in 1618 by Sir Hugh Wirrall in Corgreagh, County Cavan, has vanished entirely from the landscape, leaving behind only competing claims about where it stood. One account places it inside an ancient hilltop rath, while local tradition points forty metres east, a discrepancy that turns the lost castle into a puzzle rather than a ruin. The name Bagshaw stuck after Edward Bagshaw owned the site, but the ground itself has erased the walls, the rooms and the people who moved through them. What remains is a place known only through memory, measurement and doubt.
