Situated on top of a drumlin. It is described as a ‘Carn’ in italic (1834) and gothic (1907) lettering on different editions of the OS 6-inch map. It was described in 1948 as: elliptical in shape from S to E, and c. 2 feet (0.6m) above the ground level with a shallow depression in the centre (OSFM). It had been removed by 1967. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
