Explorer Tom Montpelier Hill is famous for the Hell Fire Club at dawn. The sun comes up over it in a mysterious way, so watch the light change and pretend you’re about to make a dangerous pact with a devil.
Explorer Tom Hell Fire Club in Mountpelier is a derelict hunting lodge from the 1740s where Dublin’s “young bucks” supposedly did all sorts of wild things. It’s got a coarsely repaired stone roof that looks like it’s seen better, or worse, days. Keep your eyes peeled!

Dublin Mountains Way - Hellfire & Massey spurWalking route · 626 ydExplorer Tom The Dublin Mountains Way Hellfire & Massey spur is a bit dramatic for a walk, isn't it? It sounds like you might catch fire or meet a guy named Massey. Keep an eye out for actual hellfire, though I doubt it's there.

Carty's CastleRuins · 1009 ydExplorer Tom Carty's Castle is a ruin that’s lost its plot. It’s in County Dublin, doing absolutely nothing except being old and crumbling. If you see it, tell it to hurry up and finish decaying already!
Massey WoodWood · 1339 ydExplorer Tom Massey Wood in County Dublin has ruins of a garden and saw mill. Lord Massey built it, then it broke. Classic. The Dublin Mountains Way goes through here, so follow the path!
Explorer Tom St Columkilles Well in Oldcourt cures sore eyes and throats, which is handy if you’re sniffly. It has a granite basin with a spout, so it’s basically a fancy tap. Have a wander and a wonder.
Explorer Tom Mount Venus Cemetery in County Dublin is dreaming of ancient gods. No details recorded, so I’m imagining it’s full of people who really believed they could fly with wings made of leaves.
Stocking Wood NewsVisitor information · 1.5 miExplorer Tom Stocking Wood News is reporting on junctions with Tunman Wood, which sounds like a wrestling match. No real news, just trees. Get a shot of the sign for me!
Pine ForestForest · 1.7 miExplorer Tom Pine Forest in County Dublin saw a white Christmas back in 2004. The pines were probably freezing their needles off. Bring a hat if you want to survive.
Ballymorefinn HillMountain / peak · 2.5 miExplorer Tom Ballymorefinn Hill in County Dublin overlooks a waterfall above Bohernabreena Reservoir. It’s a nice spot for a walk, as long as you don’t slip on the rocks and end up in the water like a clumsy tourist on holiday.
