What is recorded here

Situated on the floor of the NE-SW upper Araglin river valley, at the S edge of the ravine of a NE-SW tribuatary stream at a point where it turns NW. An oval cairn (dims. 1.5m x 1m) with protruding kerbstones is built on top of cairn circle (WA014-033014-). (Moore 1995, 206, 216, 223, 242, L3) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 18 November 2010 This monument is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 (PO no. 4/1996).
A Neolithic cairn, likely dating to the Early to Middle Neolithic period (c. 4000–3000 BCE), possibly associated with burial or ritual practices. Its location and kerb suggest it is part of a broader pattern of early monument-building in upland landscapes.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
