In Grallagh, a D-shaped mound of burnt stone and dark soil rises above wet pasture, its charred fragments still visible beneath the grass. People may have heated water there for cooking or cleaning, filling the air with steam and smoke while children played near the burial ground now marked beside it. The field drain cut later, slipping part of the mound’s edge, but the heat and purpose remain embedded in the earth.

In pasture, adjacent to a field drain in a natural depression of wet ground. Ground rises gently to the NW. Prominent roughly D-shaped, sod-covered rise (10.6m N–S; 14.4m E–W; H 0.5-0.6m) with broadly sloping sides. The SE side is marked by a slumped almost linear scarp (H 0.7m), possibly result of disturbance during construction of the field drain, which lies 2m to SE and is now largely silted up. A slight dip in the mound on the S-SW side, facing an area of wettish ground, may indicate the location of a trough. Angular stone fragments, charcoal fragments and dark soil were visible at the S and W sides of the mound when it was inspected in 1998.
