What is recorded here
Ballynakelly holds one buried body inside a double-ditched enclosure, marked only by a cut seen in 2006 and diminished by later farm work. That much is clear. The clearer fact is that the place still distinguishes itself: a boundary, an opening, and one human life set within it. The rest belongs to imagination.
Excavations in 2006 (06E0176) revealed a single human burial in the SE of a double-ditched enclosure between the inner and outer ditch (DU021-106----). It had been truncated by later agricultural activity(Mc Carthy,C. 2009, 123).
