Burial in Ballycarron

In August 1956 human remains were discovered eroding out of a gravel ridge on the banks of the River Suir at Ballycarron bridge, Golden. The remains had been found at a depth of 0.4m below the sod and were in a very good state of preservation. There was no evidence of grave structure or associated artefacts. The burial was probably extended and the general appearance of the bones suggested that they were not prehistoric in date. The remains were reburied locally.
