What is recorded here

Crow Street buried its dead beneath future houses. When hammers broke through floor and foundation in 1951, bones appeared under what would have been kitchens, parlours and bedrooms. The townland has no name in the story because the street absorbed it. Dublin did not build over a vacancy; it built over a graveyard and forgot the shape of what it covered.
During the demolition of four houses at the Dame Street end of Crow Street (Nos 16-19) in 1951 a number of human skeletons were discovered (NMI, 11 December 1951). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 31 January 2013
