Boundary wall to rear of Dublin Castle State Apartments, built c. 1850, comprising cut stone calp limestone blocks with plinth and having decorative musket-loops and crenellated parapet. Tudor-arch doorway to middle, with concave chamfered surround, crenellated hood and recent timber door and over-door. East end recessed slightly and forms two-bay two-storey building, with further bay to canted east end. Openings have chamfered surrounds, Tudor-arch to ground floor of canted-bay with fixed timber double-light window with quatrefoil to spandrel, and square-headed elsewhere with double six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows. Adjoins southwest corner of Chapel Royal.

This boundary wall is part of the structures that enclose the State Apartments at their south side. The doorway in the wall address the pedimented rear facade of the State Apartments. The good-quality cut stonework enhances the structure and compliments the boundary wall to the west. The variety of openings in the east end, and the various medieval and defensive details are evocative.
