Eight bodies lay head-to-north in Aghade when sand diggers broke through in 1949. They owned no coins, jewels or weapons, only the quiet company of buried people. The earth kept them without marking, waiting for human hands to remember what it had forgotten.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
